On Food and Eating
Every now and again, I let my feelings get the best of me, even though I know better.
Today… I didn’t feel like eating.
So I didn’t.
I don’t know why my appetite was acting funny. Every now and then, I just don’t feel like eating. This doesn’t happen on a regular basis, though, just when I’m stressed for some reason, really tired or sick.
Of course, humans cannot function properly if they don’t eat.
I am human. Have been for a while now.
So today, this human was extra-sleepy and had to fight to keep her eyeballs visible. Oh, I soooo wanted to lay my head down on my desk and snooze.
Wait. Let me be honest.
I wanted to curl up under my desk and get a good power nap and not care if anyone heard me snore.
You Betta Represent!
But alas, I represent my family, my school, my church, black folks, tall folks, folks with braids, folks with size 10 feet, single folks, folks with glasses, folks with seldom-worn contact lenses, graduate student-folks, and folks who love to wear sarongs… I didn’t want to be a poor representation of them, so I didn’t sleep.
El Bee Esses (lbs.)
I find it interesting that people joke about looking at a succulent cheese burger and gaining five pounds. If I don’t look at one, I’ll loose five. At lunch though, I ate about half a fruit salad, but it wasn’t enough to energize. I struggled through the day.
One Liner, or More
The next time I’m stressed and don’t feel like eating, I must recall the wise words of pop culture gastronomic mystic Weird Al Yankovic:
“Eat it,
Eat it!
Get yourself an egg and beat it!”
